Background
Valmec was contracted by Water Corporation for the construction of the Norseman Water Tank. The scope of works included the management, procurement, fabrication, and construction of a new 4 ML concrete water tank, along with associated civil, structural, piping, electrical, and instrumentation work.
Previously, potable water in Norseman was stored in an open reservoir. With Water Corporation discontinuing the use of open reservoirs in its potable water supply network, the construction of a new 4 ML tank was required.
Scope of Services
- Construction of a 4 ML reinforced concrete ground level water tank with concrete roof
- Construct an overflow sump and sealed access tracks
- Modification to existing pipework, connections and ancillary works
- SCADA, electrical, control and instrumentation works
- Decommissioning of the existing Norseman Reservoir
Challenges
Construction of a 4ML concrete tank in a region with no Concrete Plants.
The entire Tank was batched using a mobile batching plant.
All site columns and beams needed to be pre-cast on-site in casting beds.
