Valmec Reaches HyP SA Construction Milestone

Our Valmec team has achieved the next milestone for the Hydrogen Park SA (HyP SA) project for our valued client Australian Gas Networks (AGN), part of the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG).

Valmec hosted a site visit for the South Australian Government and the AGIG team, which included the Hon Dan van Holst Pellekaan MP, Minister for Energy and Mining, AGIG General Manager People and Strategy Craig de Laine, along with Mayor of the City of Marion Kris Hanna, to mark the commencement of installation of the electrolyser.

Valmec’s Electrical Superintendent, Rohan Jackson showcased the new Siemens 1.25MW electrolyser which after installation, will employ electricity from renewable sources to split water into oxygen and hydrogen gas, producing up to 480kg of hydrogen per day.

“With the facility operational later this year, AGIG will be set to produce renewable hydrogen, for blending with natural gas, and supply to nearby properties via the existing gas network as part of a five-year (minimum) demonstration.”
